Mpho Lucia Mats'ela

I believe the next generation of machine learning innovators can emerge from Lesotho and I want to help make that happen. My ambition as an aspiring IMLC Ambassador is to bridge the gap between talent and opportunity, empowering young Basotho to discover, explore and shape the future of technology. I am Mpho Lucia Mats'ela, a third year Computing student specialising in Software Engineering at Botho University, from Lesotho. I believe innovation is not defined by where you come from but by your courage to imagine, create and challenge what is possible. I am passionate about software development, artificial intelligence, machine learning and cybersecurity, particularly building innovative solutions that address real world challenges and create meaningful change. Beyond academics, I serve as the Event Planner and Social Media Manager on the Botho Innovation Hub Committee and am a member of the Botho CyberSquad Management Team. Through these roles, I aim to encourage collaboration, creativity and student innovation. My vision is to make machine learning more accessible by connecting students with opportunities, encouraging practical learning and building communities of aspiring innovators. My message to every young person in Lesotho is simple: You do not have to wait for the future of technology to reach you. Start learning, start building and become part of the generation that creates it.
